Hiding In Hip Hop – On The Down Low in the Entertainment Industry from Music to Hollywood (Atria/Simon &
Schuster) May 2008
A riveting memoir, Hiding In Hip Hop, uncovers a hidden and well-known unspoken secret. Deep within the
confines of Hip-Hop is a prominent gay sub-culture. A world that industry insiders are keenly aware of, but
choose to ignore. From the testosterone of men striving to be on top and in control, to the “by any means
necessary” bravado in an industry that thrives on power, homosexuality is a reality at nearly every level of Hip-
Hop. Hiding In Hip Hop is a heartfelt sojourn of a young man searching for self, love, and sexual identity in the
most homophobic places – the black family, community, church, and Hip Hop. Dean takes readers on an
emotional rollercoaster ride as he becomes romantically involved with some of Hollywood’s and Hip Hop’s
elite, and into an undergroun d world of down low brothers, sex parties, and love starved celebrities.
Struggling to find a place for himself in a homophobic culture Dean’s compelling story is one of hope, love,
and in spite of everything, coming to terms with one’s self and being a catalyst for change and empowerment
in the game of Hip-Hop.

Alvin Jones works at a property named Armstead Arms, where he has been a maintenance man for six years.
His code of conduct at work has always been 'Don't Mess with The Tenants'. He is well known by everyone for
keeping firm to his code. After his 35th birthday, Alvin experiences a mid-life crisis. He is lonely, sexually
frustrated, and hasn't been in a serious relationship for years. At work, Al begins to feel like he's on a diet,
looking at lots of female food, but tasting none of them. Even though his company frowns on staff fraternizing
with tenants, Alvin starts to graze in the field of tenants where he works. When he finally snaps from the sexual
pressure and exposure to young, lonely, and voluptuous women, Al opens a door that he finds he can never
close again, and it changes his life forever. "Repair Man Jones" is Carolyn Gibson's debut novel, rooted in
part, from her substantial years of observations as a property manager.

snub you for having skin that’s a shade past café au lait or an accent that’s one generation from Jamaica.
Now, caught up in a hectic lifestyle filled with designer clothes, expensive highlights, finger-aching bling, air
kissing, fine-looking players, lies, betrayals, and other things her once-sensible life didn’t demand, Wes is in for

game and how to break them...

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a
sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the
revolutionary essence from deep within the trough of her Y chromosomes; lacing it with truths, humor and
sisterly compassion. Still uncompromising, Ms. Chinyelu overtly articulates the primacy of black women without
negating their compliment, black men. Using a sentence she coined a while back; the line of my back needed
straightening more than my hair, as her muse, Tichaona retraces the spiritual experience she had in her early
twenties revolving around the grandmother she never met. Drawing on her desire to respond righteously, she
encapsulated that experience of love and consciousness to produce the progressive, relevant and textured
writings of Still Living on my Feet.

Kill Your Giants by David Carruthers
|
In his debut book "Kill Your Giants, David speaks candidly about issues that impede us from our spiritual,
emotional and financial empowerment. In this book David analyzes the dangers of lust, anger, rejection, pride
and the stubborn voices of fear. These are what he calls the "common giants” and he gives practical and
biblical ways of how we can remove and destroy these giants before they destroy our purpose.
David believes that there is a destiny waiting for us that will exceed our expectations but, in order for us to
possess it, we must remove all that hinders us from our promise. He also states that our dreams are easily
accessible and possible if we lay aside the weights that beset us. This thought-provoking book will challenge
noxious thinking and strengthen one's character.

The Trifling Times of Nathan Jones by Moses Miller
|
NAN: The Trifling Times of Nathan Jones, is the riveting story of a troubled black male from Brooklyn, New York
that was forced underground after warring with a corrupt NYPD unit in the 1980’s. Fortunately for Nathan Jones
(also known as Nan), he survived the attempt to end his life, and lived to tell his tale.
But, his story is not unlike many urban tales today, where the prevalence of corruption and greed result in the
demise of many innocent individuals. Often times, our youth find themselves entrapped by the powers that be to
their own detriment. In the case of Nathan Jones, when Five-0 came gunning for him, he refused to become
another statistic.
NAN: The Trifling Times of Nathan Jones, is a compelling tale, written exactly as it was told to Moses Miller.
Hip-Hop slang has finally muscled its way into mainstream culture. Street Talk presents us with the most
extensive and authentic dictionary of Hip-Hop and urban vernacular terms to date. In the same vein as websites
like Gizoogle and the Urban Dictionary, Mr. Kearse offers a more complex and complete interpretation of the
existing urban vocabulary, complete with detailed accounts of word origins. Urban slang has been creating
communication barriers between cultures and generations for years. Finally, Street Talk enlightens its
readership on the rules and terms of street speak for the un-hip, parents and teachers, and those interested in
learning more about Hip-Hop culture. In a controversial and unique study, Randy does what Merriam-Webster
did for the English Language; he has scrupulously compiled an authentic, comprehensive array of urban terms
offering insight into Hip Hop culture, creating Hip Hop's self-proclaimed official urban slang dictionary. Street
Talk has over 10,000 entries. East Coast, West Coast, Southern slang. Prison, drug, criminal slang. General
slang and sexual slang. Origins, old school and new school.

Three weeks before the arrival of the Earthmen the Martians congregate to discuss all that must be completed
before the new Martians arrive. During this meeting a Martian addresses the others stating, “I am not sure if
you all realize this, but what we have achieved is a phenomenon. Okay, yes we did cultivate Mars! However
this is not what I find to be phenomenal. We all shared a common bond, this bond made us closer, our
respect for each other made us friends, and out of this respect came peace. We have a peaceful society!
Those people on Earth could never understand how we cohabit. They were not here when we had no light and
formed alliances ignorant of race, color, and religion.” “When they come here, they will bring with them their
ignorance, their airs of superiority over others, and all the other negative conceptions that plague Earth. We
must not let them alter our society, our way of life! I suggest that we call down to Earth and let them know that
they must find somewhere else for those people. We will just have to explain our position to them.”
So the Martians will call to Earth and explain their position to them. Earth of course will be displeased with this
pose. The governments in turn will threaten to cease the provision of resources to Mars. The Martians reply,
“keep your resources, your threat only fortifies our stance, your resources will only remind us of your ignorance
and cruelty!”

Jada Channing was never supposed to see him again after that night, that one glorious night
where she lost all good sense and muzzled all the voices telling her why being with him wasn't
a good idea: he was older, wealthy, and white. She was none of those things, and yet she fell
for him anyway--just as her great-great grandmother had fallen for her white great-great
grandfather all those years ago. It had ended badly for them, and neither historical
precedence nor current times were promising in the case of such affairs.
Now Jada has a child from that night, but she has never told the father because he lives a life
that could never include her or her half-black son--or so she thinks. What happens when the
father reappears five years later, completely oblivious to the knowledge of his child, and the
feelings she had locked away after that one night return twice as powerfully? Will history
repeat itself, or will Jada give herself the chance to create an entirely new future?
Reconstructing Jada Channing by Savannah J Frierson
Blacks: From the Plantation to the Prison is a riveting piece of work that connects the Plantation
of the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries to the Prison of the 21st century. Current statistics
show that African-Americans are largely expected to drop out of high school, enter the prisons,
produce children out of wedlock, divorce and live below the poverty line.
Why is this? What is it tied to? Is it the lack of education in this group? Is it the discrimination that
many Blacks claim to be subjected to? Is it the 1700 conditioning? The Bible says, “Train up a
child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it…” Are Blacks now
returning to the way of the Master (who once were their parents)? Are Blacks purposely not
seeking education and ownership, like the Master once inhibited the Blacks from doing?
Through research and revelation, this book eloquently correlates and discusses some important
facts, psychological decisions, infrastructures and emotions that contribute to the disparaging
number of imprisoned Blacks and solutions to help reroute this trend.
